Conference panels on Friday and Saturday are now full. Those now registering will join the waitlist. The conference activities will be simulcast to the James Stewart Film Theater at 185 Nassau Street on the Princeton campus, which is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to attend Black Poetry: A Gala Reading on Thursday, February 14 at 7 pm at the Matthews Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center where nine of the Conference poets will be reading and most of the Conference poets will be in attendance with a book sale following where many of the poets will be available to sign copies of their books. The reading is free and not tickets are required.

FAQs

If the conference is full, should I register for the waitlist?
Yes, please register for the conference if you would like to attend. Additional tickets may become available. The seating capacity of the James Stewart Film Theater is 190. People on the waitlist will be given priority.

What happens if extra tickets become available?
People on the waitlist will be notified by email. You will have 24 hours to reserve your ticket after receiving notification.

What happens if extra tickets do not become available?
If we cannot accommodate everyone on the waitlist, we will simulcast the conference in the James Stewart Film Theater at 185 Nassau St. in Princeton.

I’m on the waitlist for one day, but not the other. Can I switch my ticket?
No. Due to limited availability, we cannot switch tickets.

Is the James Stewart Film Theater accessible?
Yes, the James Stewart Film Theater is accessible. If you are in need of specific accommodations, please write to lewisctr-comm@princeton.edu at least two weeks in advance of the event.

How long does the conference run?

The conference runs each day from 10 am to 9 pm.

What is the schedule for each day of the conference?

A detailed conference schedule will be posted in early February.

What if I can't stay all day for the full conference?

Please register only if you can attend for the whole day.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Free parking is available on the Princeton University campus. More details on directions and parking are available at blackpoetry.princeton.edu

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No.

Is the conference accessible?

The Lewis Arts complex is an accessible venue. Please review our accessibility guidelines at blackpoetry.princeton.edu. Guests in need of additional access accommodations should contact the Lewis Center for the Arts at least two weeks before the event at lewisctr-comm@princeton.edu.
